THey run red lights, they do rolling stops. I even had a cop pull my dad over, because my dad changed lanes in front of him, and the cop didnt like it becuase the cop was going faster than what he should have been going, so he pulled my dad over.. What a jackass. Most cops go about 15 to 20 over the speed limit. They think because they are working for the law means they can break it and not get in trouble. I think some cops do abuse their priveleges. However, there are some people that just don't like them for doing their jobs. There is a way for cops to do their jobs without being jerks, and I agree they should set a better example.
I really don't have a problem with the instances you site. In the case of your dad, he failed to check on-coming traffic before he merged into the fast lane. Some cops abuse their power, they're eventually weeded out. Most cops do their job to the best of their ability, and I for one am thankful for them.
I almost had a cop hit me head on the other day. I was on my way to work and he was coming toward me running the yellow center line. I was behind a van so I didn't see him untill I saw the van swerve really fast. I wish he would have hit me, that would have been a nice law suite. Besides I haven't even made the first payment on my car yet.

The other day, I noticed in a state park how the conservation officers idled their cars at leisure, while they just yapped outside with each other. I sent a note to the Commissioner of the state's Department of Environmental Protection, respectfully looking to understand the exception against the Clean Air Act. Why can they idle their cars for hours, and I can't? I visited the park two weeks later again, and all officers had their cruisers shut down.
Cops do whatever the heck they want in traffic situations. In this day and age, you will benefit from snapping the moment in your cell phone's camera and *then* bringing it up to the pertinent authorities. Only because they're so corrupted that unless you have evidence on tape, the cops will get away with anything they do and cover for each other. Good luck!
And all this time I thought it was only me, the way I think. It is happening, all over too. I lived in Maine for 5 years, it happened there. Now, I'm in CT and still, it's happening here. I was behind a cop the other day, coming down my street. He's a few feet from the stop sign, no brake lights, just sitting there. I don't know what to do, so I wait for him to make a move. He turns left and races like a bat out of h*ll, no signal at all. If it were you or me, we would have gotten pulled over and ticketed. Go figure, doesn't that suck tho? First off, the police need not justify there actions to you. In most states they are exempt from the vehicle and traffic laws. That means they can do whatever they want in the performance of their jobs. Law makers and other gov't officials, who know much more about the law enforcement job, realize that and pass laws that allow cops to do what they need to do. There are plenty of things a cop can do that you cant. Can you carry a gun 24/7? Mace? Taser? Automatic Rifle? Do you have lights and sirens in your car? How about plates? Ever notice how many police cars have no liscence plates? Why do you think that is? You have no idea why they are running a light and no they do not have to use thier lights and sirens. Maybe he is following a car and doesn't want to alert them. Maybe he is heading to assist another cop, that while not a emergency reuires that he get there quickly. Maybe he is rolling up on an aided call and the people requested no lights no sirens. Maybe he really is going nowhere and just wants to grab a cup of coffee before his next moronic call. Who are you to judge how fast a cop should or should not be going? Do you know all the facts? The only fact is your father changed lanes in front of a police car that was going faster than him. That was stupid and inconsiderate.
MAny times cops are running from call to call. They do not always use lights and sirens. Sometimes its is faster to just drive without them. When you turn on the lights and siren people do stupid things that can actually delay you and make it more dangerous.
Bottom line, you have zero right to question how a cop does his job. Often times you have no clue where he is going or what he is doing. You sound like you know very little about that job to begin with and have learned bad behaviors from your father which will harm you in life. You need to learn what is your business and what is not.
For the record, the police have supervisors. They monitor the cops actions and discipline them if they are abusing their privleges.

You know whether the cop was waiting to get more info on a call? Maybe the call was just coming over, something like a child not breathing, and he was in the area, but had not been given the full address yet? Ever think of that or just yourself?
Maybe he was unfamiliar with the area and was checking a map or looking at the job in his computer.
Once again, all none of your business. Unless you know all the facts and know the job inside and out you are totally unqualified to make any judgement. Most people don't even know the laws they must follow on a daily basis but then want to tell a cop how to do his job.
I got a great idea. All you posters who think you know everything and know exactly how a cop should do his job, tell them! Cut him off, and question him. Follow him and interfere with what he is doing. I'm sure you will be surprised at the response....

Did your Dad pull in front of the police car for a reason other than trying to make him slow down? If not then maybe the police officer thought the move was reckless and dangerous.
I know there are what appear to be many traffic violation committed by law enforcement while they are driving, but you have to keep in mind that we as drivers sharing the roads with them don't know if they are heading to an incident or just trying to get to a late lunch engagement.
Most of the law enforcement people I know are very conscientious and defensive in their driving habits. I also know that most, if not all, of them take far more classes in how to handle a vehicle than 99% of the drivers on the road do.
Of course the above is not intended to justify the fact that yes, there are some out there there who do misuse their power of authority to satisfy their mental defencies.
The court system is all about money fines fees etc. The police are just the tax collectors.. my friends purse was stolen from the ymca locker room .. the employees had a women on tape leaving with a large backpack and they suspected her in many other purse snatchings ,,, they had a full profile for her in the computer and the police officer came and just made up excuses not to even contact he,, The credit card companies solve these type of crimes type of excuses,, I went to the police station and talked to a supervisor.. he said.. we get so many of these we cant go out and make contact with the people no one saw her put the purse in her bag .anyhow......These cops are out on 25 mph roads looking for seatbelt violators thats why they are to busy...100 bucks a pop in their pocket or solve crime they chose the 100 bucks... Cops are lame the system is the cause I know but Why dont cops speak up and do there job......The first cop said if he talked to the women identified by ymca staff as a suspect in many purse snatchings she would tell him to go blow sand...huh? at least she would know they were on to her.. they had our car keys our house keys our drivers licenses .The thief could have gone straight to our house and cleaned us out.... and I asked about that danger and the cops didnt care,,, .we had to get new car keys new house keys and the cop s were yawning,, the ymca suspended the womens membership after that ...she had a young man as a look out they worked as a team they caught the man bringing boltcutters int the ymca in a gym bag.. a few days late our credit cards and my friends drivers license wer dumped near our house that was scary.. they were casing our house... You know cops are just human like the rest of us. Some of them follow the rules, some but themselves above. They make mistakes. If you are doing what you are supposed to do, I guarantee you won't get pulled over. The people that are usually upset with police conduct, are the ones breaking the law (in one way or another) Not all of them are bad...that is a huge generalization. Sorry, I realize this probably isn't what you wanted to hear...
I do, and I have a theory for why they suck at their jobs. It is this: they are paid with tax money. Compare the service that you get from businesses that must earn your money with the ';service'; that police offer.
If a business fails to meet your expectations, you simply stop giving them money. The feedback is instantaneous. If they fail too much, they run out of money and go out of business. Only those companies that succeed in satisfying your expectations stay in business.
Now, what is your recourse when a police officer does his job poorly or is even abusive? You have to go through bureaucracy. You might take him to court, but good luck getting a judge that isn't sympathetic to ';one of his own';. You might attempt to address the problem politically via votes. But the voting process is highly susceptible to corruption. Even when not corrupt, it is still quite expensive. Lastly, you could result to violent opposition. Virtually anyone who stands up to police in this manner loses.
This is not to overlook the good intentions and heroic actions of some police officers. Police are human beings. Some of them are exceptional people. Sadly, many of them are little more than bullies. The mechanisms for getting rid of the bad apples really don't exist.
There ought to be more market solutions for offering security and crime prevention. Unfortunately, the majority of people believe that security can only be offered by a government police force that seemingly exists often only to harrass peaceful people and keep them in line.

First off, the mere fact that a cop speeds doesn't mean he is breaking the law. I can get into any authorized emergency vehicle and drive any speed I feel necessary and there is no violation of the law. Because each state has laws pertaining to the operation of emergency vehicles. Some states have stricter laws, others the officer only has to be in an on-duty capacity. So maybe read you state's laws before you spout out your neck.
Second, there are jurisdictions that have civilian review boards that handle complaints against police.
Third, by your attitude alone, I can say that you suck. You have a piss poor attitude. You whine and complain about the police while they are trying to do their job, yet you have haven't done a damn thing for your community (except whine and complain). Even though you indeed suck, I have to thank you. If it wasn't for people like you, and your father, we wouldn't have a job. So please, keep up the good work.

Maybe 5 people thus far out of the 20 or so who have responded. That's.....oh, roughly 20% of the respondents? But, this is not a scientifically accurate polling ground, either.
We ';little people'; just want to see some parity, I think. Same as we want to see Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan serve jail time for committing their crimes, we hant to see the people who are held responsible for enforcing our laws to actually conduct THEMSELVES in a manner that is compliant with the law (barring, of course, a Level 1, Code Red, or whatever you call 'em priority call which requires urgency).
WOW Shaun A GOOD POST..I don't think I could post it any better. The only thing I could add is that even when cops are in their own cars they drive like JACK@SSES. They know that all they need to do is flash a badge and use it as a get out of jail free card. Sad think is most experienced drivers could out perform a cop any day. I know I have.
People that don't like officers usually dont like them until they need them. Then they are all about getting an officer to their house ASAP and then scream when they aren't there fast enough because all of the officers on duty are tied up on physical domestics, shots fired, csc's etc. My advise to you would be to appreciate that every single one of the officers out there are there doing a job that you don't have enough guts to do yourself. They put themselves in harms way each and every day that they put on their uniform. You should apprciate them, not put them down. But, the minute you need them is going to be the minute you learn that lesson.

And to Shawn A---you make absolutely no sense what so ever. Was it your friend or you that had her purse stolen. At one time you say your friend, then all of a sudden it becomes you. Your house keys, your car keys, your license. Are you just playing the victim here to get sympathy? Let me tell you, even though I am not an officer, you wouldn't last a minute with those lies. It's hard to not see through something that is as transparent as your lies.
And to Me- so was it just the other day or 2 weeks ago? Have you ever realized exactly how long it takes to get in your car, fumble around with your keys, put them in the ignition and start it? Would you want that sort of delay if you were in a serious car accident, or your child had just fallen down a flight of stairs and had all kinds of broken bones, or god forbid someone is in your house with a gun? Oh but wait, they are just a conservation officer right? WRONG!! Most, if not all conservation officers are full fledged, sworn in officers or deputies also, meaning that all though they may not be able to take primary on a call, if they are in the area, they can assist another unit the same as any other unit. If you had a serious priority call at your house and found out that a conservation officer was right around the corner and didn't respond, you would be one of the first ones to file a formal complaint.

Who's turn is it?
So if on the Freeway a car wants to change lanes to the right but a car is in that lane but 15 meters aft. The driver in car #1 signals to change lanes to the right but is also waiting for the motorist behind him to pass. BUT The motorist who was going to pass sees the turn signal and he slows down to let the car in. Yet car #1 is still waiting for the car to pass and right now they are both traveling at a constant speed. After about 10 seconds of this nonesense drive #1 finaly speeds up and changes lanes in front of the car even though he wanted to let it pass him first and get behind it because initially car #2 was going faster to begin with.
The driver of car #1 was me. Doesn't it suck how poor communication is on the road? Istead of motorist talking on their cell phones. Why not talk on 2 way radios so everyone on the road can talk to each other?
Don't you think we got it all wrong in how best to utilize technology? Both car and electronic communications devices.Who's turn is it?
The driver in the trailing car should and must maintain a constant speed. His error in judgment was slowing down, ostensibly to be courteous, but instead created a traffic hazard. The other driver (you) in the left hand lane should not have to second guess what the other driver is going to do. To call it nonsense is being charitable.
That said, going faster than another driver on a multiple-lane road - and not changing lanes - does not constitute passing. The previous respondent is right about passing on the right, but that's not what you've described here. It's not passing unless you are already in the left hand lane, move over to the right and then go back over to the left lane. But even that is not illegal passing on the right when you're on a multiple-lane road.Who's turn is it?
If you are going to be upset by little things like that you better hand in your license. You want a babysitter.
Actually, what eventually occurred is correct within the law. You wanted to be nice and let them pass you, however driver #2 being observant, saw your turn signal and proceeded to slow down enough to let you into their lane safely.

Good grief, most people would be grateful that driver #2 was polite and considerate enough to wait for you to make your move, not to mention safety conscious. If I were driver #2, I would have done the same thing because I'm not a mind reader, I can only predict your move by your indicators. Once you indicated your intention to change lanes, driver #2 rightly slowed a little and gave you room to make your lane change. Be grateful. It could have been some idiot who waited until you started to make your move and then crowded you or tail-ended you.

Would you cut off another car in road rage?
Well, I wouldn't really call it road rage in my case. I just wanted to put a good attention grabber in the question because I'm not sure how to ask this. Let me explain. Say suppose you are driving in the right lane on an interstate. There's another car in the left lane slowly approaching your side or attempting to pass you mile upon mile or it's just sitting there going exactly my speed and holding up cars behind them. And say suppose you are gaining up on slower traffic ahead, would you move in the left lane in front of the car that had plenty of time to speed up and pass you? To me, it doesn't matter if they are 2 car lengths back or 2 feet back, I would move in front of them. In my opinion, nobody should be coming up behind me in the left lane if there are no traffic behind me. They should come up behind me in the right lane and then move to the left lane to pass me when they gained up on me. That's the law in most states to keep right except to pass. If there is no traffic behind me and a car comes up behind me in the left lane, then they probably drive in the left lane all the time and that causes a line of 10-20 cars behind them sometimes.
As long I can see their entire vehicle or their front bumper or their headlights in my driver's side mirror, I would normally change lanes in front of them if I have enough space to do so. If I don't see their entire vehicle and just see part of their vehicle, then that means their front bumper is to the side of my rear bumper and I had times when I wanted to change lanes, but didn't because there wasn't enough space. But as long I have enough space even if it's just 2 feet, I have change lanes in front of them if they are going my speed. I mean I wouldn't move in front of someone going 100 mph.
These people who stay in the left lane too long are left lane hogs. What do you think? Would you change lanes like I do? Any comments?Would you cut off another car in road rage?

That's a good question. People seem to have this idea that as long as they are going a certain speed, or speeding by a certain amount, that it gives them the right to remain in the left lane for as long as they want, even when they aren't passing anyone (';left lane hogs';). Obviously, this is not the case. The law says keep right except to pass, so they have no reason to be in the left lane unless they are actively engaged in passing another vehicle, regardless of how fast they are going. As long as they are moving past the vehicle to their right, and move back over once they complete the pass, they are obeying the rules. But if they get up beside you like you describe, and remain there for miles without passing you, I would just back off a bit and slow down to let them get ahead of you. Once they do, and they are out of your way, you can speed up and pass them, and never have to see them again. That is what I would do. I wouldn't cut them off, tailgate them, etc, because cutting people off and tailgating cause just as much road rage as left lane hogs do. Just try to do what you can to let them pass you, then once they do, take the first safe opportunity to pass them so you will never have to see them again. Sometimes I wish I were driving an old junk and did not care if I smashed it up. When some ****** cuts me off or tailgates me, I would plow right into them untill the car they were driving was reduced to a piece of junk. I do get pissed off sometimes, but I hold my temper and do nothing. Do you think if I did that, the other person would stop doing those stupid things? I kind of doubt it. Some people just never learn.
Each Saturday I drive 55 miles, one way, mostly on I 83 in Pa. I know exactly what you are talking about. As a retired police officer I maintain enough distance between me and the car in front to stop safely in an emergency. Cruising along at or below the speed limit in the right lane I observe what you describe. The car approaching in the left lane slows to my speed and remains off my left rear leaving no room for me to pull out and pass the car in front, safely, if it slows down.. Some drivers are followers. I slow down opening up 7 to 8 more car lengths from the car in front. If the left lane driver stays with me I accelerate sharply gain a two car length advantage on him, pull out, pass the car in front of me and return to the right lane- this usually gets things moving along. This happens a lot since I'm driving a 1973 Nova but I have equipped it with 380hsp to accomplish this safely. You are correct that vehicles should be in the right lane and after passing should return to it. You will have to be extra observant and plan ahead to avoid this circumstance. Remember, they are on their cell phones, talking to their passengers, daydreaming or even eating food. They are just plain dangerous. Your best attitude and defense is defensive driving. Inconsideration for others, poor driving, selfish attitudes and ignorance cause most accidents. Get there safely using all your driving skills. Once you lose your temper anything bad can and will happen behind the wheel.
I don't 'play games' in traffic. The problem with road rage is that there are no rules and people die as a result. I do not intend to be one of them.
Whenever I am 'invited' by another driver to partake I just get the Hell out of their way. That just drives them nuts when no one else obliges them.

I hate it when some idiot in the left lane sits with me door-to-door. They've taken away my cushion space that I created, and I don't know what they'll do next. Swerve into my lane? Side-swipe me?
I'll ease up on the gas and go slower. Usually they'll either speed up, or get in front, when they could have gotten behind me, especially if there's no traffic.
If they get in front, I'll change lanes when safe to do so, and pass them with at least 2-3 car lengths, depending on traffic. I don't want to be around anyone like that. Gimme back my cushion space!
Well no that is sort of like playing a mini ';Chicken with the Train'; i would never do anything that could hurt a person, say you are driving then you get over and cut another car off by purpose and they speed up to try to scare you so you can get back over, and they hit you because you jumped in front of them, when that all could have been avoided!

The car approaching in the left lane slows to my speed and remains off my left rear leaving no room for me to pull out and pass the car in front, safely, if it slows down.. Some drivers are followers. I slow down opening up 7 to 8 more car lengths from the car in front. If the left lane driver stays with me I accelerate sharply gain a two car length advantage on him, pull out, pass the car in front of me and return to the right lane- this usually gets things moving along. This happens a lot since I'm driving a 1973 Nova but I have equipped it with 380hsp to accomplish this safely. You are correct that vehicles should be in the right lane and after passing should return to it. You will have to be extra observant and plan ahead to avoid this circumstance. Remember, they are on their cell phones, talking to their passengers, daydreaming or even eating food. They are just plain dangerous. Your best attitude and defense is defensive driving. Inconsideration for others, poor driving, selfish attitudes and ignorance cause most accidents. Get there safely using all your driving skills. Once you lose your temper anything bad can and will happen behind the wheel.
I don't 'play games' in traffic. The problem with road rage is that there are no rules and people die as a result. I do not intend to be one of them.
Whenever I am 'invited' by another driver to partake I just get the Hell out of their way. That just drives them nuts when no one else obliges them.
I would move over when there was plenty of room for me to do so...........

I hate it when some idiot in the left lane sits with me door-to-door. They've taken away my cushion space that I created, and I don't know what they'll do next. Swerve into my lane? Side-swipe me?
I'll ease up on the gas and go slower. Usually they'll either speed up, or get in front, when they could have gotten behind me, especially if there's no traffic.
If they get in front, I'll change lanes when safe to do so, and pass them with at least 2-3 car lengths, depending on traffic. I don't want to be around anyone like that. Gimme back my cushion space!
Well no that is sort of like playing a mini ';Chicken with the Train'; i would never do anything that could hurt a person, say you are driving then you get over and cut another car off by purpose and they speed up to try to scare you so you can get back over, and they hit you because you jumped in front of them, when that all could have been avoided!
But if i was sure i had enough room to get over then yes, but not just to try and let them know you are mad my cutting them of, which could put someones health in Jeopardy in certain instances!

What does that mean as far as how close? For example, if I see a car coming in the lane next to me that appears to be a distance away, it's actually closer, right? But if the car is closer right in my mirror about to enter my blind spot, then it's not closer than it appears in my mirror, right?
So, is it safe to make a lane change in front of a car I see in my driver's side mirror as long I have space, time, and my speed is close to their speed? When I make a lane change in front of another car I see directly (close) in my mirror, how many feet am I giving them? Do you think it's safe or would you make a lane change like this (even in heavy traffic)? Some drivers may think of these type of lane changes as aggressive driving and may call me an idiot.
In my opinion as far as cutting another car off, if another car has to really slow down because I moved in the lane in front of them, then I consider that as a cut off. But as long my speed is close to their speed and they don't have to adjust their speed, then I don't consider that as a cut off. If I see a car that is slowly creeping along in the left lane on the interstate and I'm in the right lane creeping up on slower moving traffic, I'll signal and move in front of the car in the left lane. I hate it when people stay in the left lane while not passing and they sit there attempting to pass me for mile upon mile. Those are the type of drivers I normally move in front of if I creep up on slower moving traffic in the right lane. If drivers don't want to speed up (or speed 15 over the limit) to pass me, then they need to get in the right lane behind me, what do you think? And I sometimes see long lines of cars in the left lane because of this.

For starters that statement is on the Passengers side mirror ... Not the drivers side mirror.
The reason that is printed on the passenger side mirror is because in order to provide a wider field of view on the passengers side they install a mirror which is slightly convex which does expand the area of view but at the cost of making everything seen in the mirror seem smaller and therefore farther away - hence the warning!
Cutting someone off generally denotes pulling in less than one vehicle length ****************************************?br>

Therefore as long as a full car length remains between the rear of your car and the front of the car you are passing, or the length of the truck behind your car before pulling in front of a truck then you are driving properly.
If the front of a car fills either side mirror - it is too close to pull in front of... you should be able to see both headlights of a car in the lane to the right of you, or one headlight of a car in the lane to the left of you, in your inside mirror, or see a full paint stripe visible between the back of your car and the front of the car behind you in your outside mirror and a minimum of 2 full stripes for trucks, before moving to the other lane.

You should go to your local drivers licencense renewal office and ask for one of those driving books. They are usually about $1. It will answer all of that plus more.
Do not just rely on your mirrors. You must do head checks as well or you will not be able to see in your blind spot. You will get used to this mirror after a while. I don't care if people pull out in front of me as long as they get their speed up quick. like you said, if you don't have to slow down for the car that has pulled out in front of you then there is no reason to get angry.

Honestly,does any one out there really know how to drive.And if so perhaps you could tell me where and when the rules were ammended to quit using signals and asking permission to change lanes.Comman courtesy seems to be out the window here.Can you really drive?

If you should happen to take offense that I am changing lanes into your lane in front of you, and you should happen to object by speeding up in order to enforce some misguided (read ';wrong';) notion that I need your permission before proceeding, you can expect to find that I will not under any circumstances change my plan of changing lanes into the lane in front of you. You will find yourself in the undesirable position of rear-ending me, at which point your car will be totaled and you and all you own will belong to me. Not to mention that you will be forced to deal with your wife, if you have one, which will entail explaining why you wrecked the family car as a direct result of being a dick. Girlfriends do not appreciate this kind of behavior either. Wives and girlfriends look at it as childish, irresponsible and reckless, none of which is good for your sex life. Why would I ask your permission to change lanes? You do not own the road, and you do not have the authority to grant permission for lane changes. It is common courtesy to let other drivers know where I am going, so they can make appropriate plans.

Its a bad situation for the construction crews who are working and for those of us who drive as an occupation, we don't appreciate being tailgated through work zones.
I always use a turn signal both in my personal car and in the company truck that I spend most of my week in. When I put on my turn signal, it means I'm coming over and the person behind me should please either speed up and pass or let me over. I certainly don't cut in abruptly or very close like an aggressive driver, but I change lanes confidently and safely. Going back to construction zones, please feel free to tailgate me if you must, I plan on going the posted speed limit as they carry double fines and points which I really don't care to become involved with. Many work zones near Tampa, FL have lane shifts that require stradling a shoulder drop off and therefore unsafe to drive a 75,000# tractor trailer very fast on.
Conversely, if you signal to shift ahead of me or need to get ahead without driving like a complete jerk, I normally do what I can to leave enough space for people to pass. If you plan on passing a string of cars and then cutting in front of me from the right and narrowly between my front bumper and the rear end of the car in the slow lane.... I try to make sure that I close the gap and you have to pass on the left. Reasoning is that there are already cars passing me on the left, no need to set up a dual side impact collision right in front of me.
Guv, you are really getting on our nerves. Police cars and emergency vehicles are not asking for permission to pass when they turn on their flashing lights and sirens. They can and will bust you if you don't clear the way. Red Light, Move Right? Perhaps you've heard of the rule. And since when did lights and sirens become turn signals? Man, you are stupid. Ok,2 pieces of info for ya,
1. you have to drive for every-one else on the road and
2. just concentrate on what YOUare doing and keep at least a 3 second gap between you and the car in front,i.e ';Keep your eyes on the road and your hand's upon the wheel.';

well this is one heck of a question.i do know how to drive and belive i do it well.i dont think i have ever ';asked for permission'; to change lanes i use the turn signal to inform others im gonna change lanes and ive developed a personal rule about that its ';3 flashes and im coming over'; so i really wouldnt recomend being on the side of me too long. obviously if there is a soccor mom in a mini van im not gonna run her off the road.i also ALWAYS pull over for emergency vehicles.the house,life ect. i save might be my own family.i also have been known to stop to let pedestrians cross the street in the city.or to let someone pull out. if more people would use some sence it makes for a much more pleasant drive.btw im 39 been driving from the age of 16 and have an accident free driving record.

I certainly don't cut in abruptly or very close like an aggressive driver, but I change lanes confidently and safely. Going back to construction zones, please feel free to tailgate me if you must, I plan on going the posted speed limit as they carry double fines and points which I really don't care to become involved with. Many work zones near Tampa, FL have lane shifts that require stradling a shoulder drop off and therefore unsafe to drive a 75,000# tractor trailer very fast on.
Conversely, if you signal to shift ahead of me or need to get ahead without driving like a complete jerk, I normally do what I can to leave enough space for people to pass. If you plan on passing a string of cars and then cutting in front of me from the right and narrowly between my front bumper and the rear end of the car in the slow lane.... I try to make sure that I close the gap and you have to pass on the left. Reasoning is that there are already cars passing me on the left, no need to set up a dual side impact collision right in front of me.
Guv, you are really getting on our nerves. Police cars and emergency vehicles are not asking for permission to pass when they turn on their flashing lights and sirens. They can and will bust you if you don't clear the way. Red Light, Move Right? Perhaps you've heard of the rule. And since when did lights and sirens become turn signals? Man, you are stupid. Dangerous as well. My driver license is a PRIVILEGE that gives me the RIGHT to drive on public roads. Read your DMV manual again, and for God's sake learn to write and spell. People will take you much more seriously if you can put a coherent sentence together. How old are you, anyway? You're acting 15.
Ok,2 pieces of info for ya,
1. you have to drive for every-one else on the road and
2. just concentrate on what YOUare doing and keep at least a 3 second gap between you and the car in front,i.e ';Keep your eyes on the road and your hand's upon the wheel.';
I used to be a lot like you,getting pissed off when people ';cut me off';,until i realised they had a destination to get to also and would more than likely want to get there in one piece as well.
I would also like to add that i have been driving cars for over 25 years,and have recently just got my motor-cycle licence,what an eye opener that is !!!!!
At least when your in a car you have some protection around you,trying putting up with tail-gaters,people on the wrong side of the road,people that cut corners,4wd's towing caravans etc.....

well this is one heck of a question.i do know how to drive and belive i do it well.i dont think i have ever ';asked for permission'; to change lanes i use the turn signal to inform others im gonna change lanes and ive developed a personal rule about that its ';3 flashes and im coming over'; so i really wouldnt recomend being on the side of me too long. obviously if there is a soccor mom in a mini van im not gonna run her off the road.i also ALWAYS pull over for emergency vehicles.the house,life ect. i save might be my own family.i also have been known to stop to let pedestrians cross the street in the city.or to let someone pull out. if more people would use some sence it makes for a much more pleasant drive.btw im 39 been driving from the age of 16 and have an accident free driving record.
