Is it Me..or are People driving like crazy lately..where are all these nut-case drivers coming from?

I have noticed in the past 2-3 years people are driving like nuts..I can't believe how bad drivers have become. We took about a two hour trip yesterday and I can't believe how people just cut you off..change lanes 3 feet in front of you. We saw 5 bad accidents on the highway...one where there was NOTHING left of this car, 3 cars destroyed and I'm sure everyone was dead. Of course traffic was backed up for miles from the gawkers staring like idiots as they came up on the accident further blocking traffic...as we passed there must have been a 1/2 of mile between us and the car behind us because these idiots wanted to get an eye full...even the traffic on the other side of the expressway was backed up...what idiots these people must be.Is it Me..or are People driving like crazy lately..where are all these nut-case drivers coming from?
Unfortunately, no its not just you. This is actually a topic of a study being conducted by a group of several academic and governmental representatives. Its not complete, but the results thus far are pointing to a disturbing shift in societal boundaries.

The advancement of automobile technology has resulted in vehicles that are, now more than ever, an extension of the person’s home. Whit this, a sense of being more free to act however you want has followed. Driver behavior in past decades involved a sense of being part of a system – the motoring public. Gone are the days of many people having C.B. radios, picking up hitchhikers, stopping to help stranded motorist, and waving to everyone you pass. This new sense of individualism has led some to have a blatant disregard for others. The media is aware of this shift and began capitalizing on it. From “Smokey and the Bandit” to “Fast and the Furious”, Hollywood has glamorized dangerous and illegal driving. T.V often airs popular shows showing police pursuits and bad driving, sometimes live by news programs. Offenders have also cited violent video games such as “Grand Theft Auto” as a factor in their decisions. Search for “carjacking video game” on Google and look at the headlines.

The good news is that the research indicates the shift will eventually swing back. No one can predict how long will it take and how many people will die before this happens. But judicial bodies are taking notice. Many states are passing laws concerning racing and reckless driving, as well as enhanced penalties for using a vehicle in the commission of certain crimes. Is it Me..or are People driving like crazy lately..where are all these nut-case drivers coming from?
I used to enjoy driving......now driving is what I must do to get from one place to another.

I hate it now......you're right people have lost their minds. It's like everybody is in a hurry to get to the next light or to get someplace 5 minutes faster and they don't care who they hurt or kill to get there.

In the slow lane going 65 MPH I wasn't going fast enough for a motorcyclist......he went around me then emptied his soft drink in the air so my windshield was covered and I couldn't see......what are people thinking?
I don't know where you live - But you have to be totally wrong!! All the nutcase drivers are here in Las Vegas, Nevada -- LOL - Or at least I thought they were -

Somehow their vehicles become extentions of who they are - and they express their emotions through the use of the vehicle - one reason we have so many more tragedies -

Another good reason to learn to keep your feelings balanced.
Mexico. Have you seen the way they drive down there. Now that there are 15million here, chances are getting better that you will ';run into'; one on the street by ';accident'; sooner or later. Dont be suprised if they just get out and run away.
I know exactly what you mean. It's always the other driver.
In my city, I attribute it to the city's growth.

The traffic is worse than it used to be, because once-rural areas are becoming more a part of the urban and suburban scene. More suburbs, mean more people. More people means more drivers and traffic. More people driving to work and trying to get there on time. The population and land development is growing at a faster rate than road development and reconstruction to accommodate the increased traffic... thus, more bottle-necking, less patience among drivers who don't want to be late, and more aggression behind the wheel.

And then there are the folks who are just idiots.

Anyway, that's my San Antonio 2 cents.
i agree i cant even drive the speed limit without some one running over me i am from las vegas and we have had 1 death on our roads every day since the year began i fell like welding spikes all over my car that will keep people at a safe distance the cops have a big do to once in a while then back off why i don't know they would generate a lot of money if they got busy and pulled over all the *** holes that drive like mad max
In my area I blame it on people moving down from the city, who are used to stop lights and properly marked turning lanes and such. They haven't caught on to the fact that you can't just pull out of your driveway without looking, because there is a car doing 60 coming around the curve or over the hill and they cannot be seen!
