Driving intersection rules questions help.?

im new to driving i just need help with inter sections.

1. When is it legal to get to the center of the intersection and make a turn? (besides waiting for oncoming traffic to clear?)

2. When im in a left turn lane and i signal and there are cars on the other side of the intersection how many seconds should i wait before proceeding if they dont have a blinker on?

3. If I was in the left turn lane at a red light and there isn檛 another lane that can go in the same direction, would it be legal once the light turns green to get to the middle lane instead of the passing lane?

4. Would it be safer (once the light turns green at a intersection and im in the left turn lane) to first get to the passing lane and once my turn is complete speed up and change lanes to the middle lane (once its clear of course)Driving intersection rules questions help.?
1 - In most states, the signal controls traffic *at the stop bar*. Hence, you enter the intersection when you pass the stop bar. So if you enter the intersection on green: you've cleared the intersection %26amp; can occupy the intersection to make a left-turn. Note that some states may have laws which require that if you enter an intersection on green, you must be capable of exiting before the signal changes to red.

2 - Only turn when you have a safe gap to do so. The unfortunate truth of the world is that no one signals, so it's best to assume that people will do whatever conflicts with you most.

3 - If I understand your question, you're asking about the receiving lanes. That is, if there's only one left-turn lane, but once you make the turn you have 2 or 3 lanes to go into: do you always have to go into the nearest lane? If that's your question: in most states you are legally obligated to enter into the nearest lane per your beginning lane position. So if there is one left-turn lane: you must enter into the leftmost receiving lane. If there are two left-turn lanes, then the rightmost lane must enter into the 2nd-from-the-middle receiving lane. In practice, however, this is rarely enforced except at unique intersections or when driving improperly creates an unsafe condition among other traffic.

4 - This sounds like a twist to #3... in #3, you were essentially asking if it's OK to change lanes in the intersection; and with #4 you're asking of it's OK to change lanes after the intersection. If I understand correctly, then #4 is most appropriate: most states require that you turn into the nearest available lane (as per my answer to #3) and *then* you signal %26amp; change lanes.

Cheers!Driving intersection rules questions help.?
1 you may drive into the intersection, really not even to the center there is no way to make a 90^ turn in a car you must lead the turn,as the light goes green.

2 Don't think seconds, think feet.

3 I don't understand this ? but you do not need to hit any specific lane, just get into the direction you want to go.

4 #3 it's not a passing lane on the streets, it's the left lane, center and right or curb lanes.
1) Legally NEVER. Now how many of us drive past the limit line when turning left? Oh about 90% give or take 10%. Hey if the turn is unprotected or even if it is with a light most of us, at least on occasion, will go to the center. Legally though you aren't allowed to drive in to the center.

2) You are turning left. Since you aren't giving us any idea of speed limit or anything the question is can you come from a dead-stop to get around the bend WITHOUT them slowing down? If you have a clear path where you are trying to turn ACROSS TRAFFIC then go ahead, BUT they shouldn't have to even slow down for you. Some say don't go if you can see them, I think that is a little excessive(unless you have poor vision).

3)So I'm guessing you mean not turn in to the closest lane? I didn't fully understand your question. Where I live you usually only have the 2 lanes(inside and outside). So the middle lane is the shared turn left lane, and no you can't go in to that. If you mean going in to the lane that isn't the closest then it would depend on the State as to if it is legal or not. Mind you I have gone in to the middle lane on a left turn(street was so backed up I was trying to get in to the lane) but I never went far AND there was no left turns. I don't think it is legal though.

4)You are supposed to turn in to the nearest lane and change lanes from there. Is it safer? If you have a PROTECTED turn(meaning you have the green turn arrow) then that is the safest way. There are a lot times I turn in to the lane I want in. It's not that unsafe, but it may be safer to turn to the nearest lane.
