Should people be required to get a lot more driver's education before they get a license?

Currently, most states require relatively little education before students are allowed operate a machine that will ultimately kill many of them along with others. It's a matter of life and death. Showing off to your friends by driving fast and crazy can easily result in people being killed, maimed, paralyzed or comatose and brain-damaged. People need to know not to tailgate, not to change lanes without checking their ';blind spot,'; not to cut others off, not to drive too slowly on a freeway (especially in the fast lanes), how to drive in different kinds of weather and much more. This takes a lot of education and practice. I doubt any state does enough to create safe new drivers. What say y'all?Should people be required to get a lot more driver's education before they get a license?
i absolutely think so. Im 16 years old and a month ago I lost 2 of my closest friends in a crash that injured 5 others. A few weeks later, another crash occurred taking the lives of 2 more peers of my age.

To think this could have been avoided, makes me distraught. My school pushes for so many classes that we have to take and yet drivers ed is not one of them. I dont know how often trig will save my life, however, I do believe if we, as students, were required to take drivers ed in school that perhaps it may have saved 4 others.Should people be required to get a lot more driver's education before they get a license?
i say nay
With all the accidents that young drivers get into, the answer is definitely YES. There is very little education given to people before getting their licenses, and this is a main reason there are so many wrecks.
My first instinct is to say yes, you can't give new drivers too much driving education, but it is more than that it's a matter of attitude. The type of person you are will determine the type of driver you are. If you have bad manners and a lack of respect for others and authority the chances are you will never make a good driver, irrespective of age.
