Driving Tips? How do I keep from getting nervous?

I am 16 and I just got my driver's license about ten days ago. When I had my permit, I didn't get lots of practice because my mom was always busy. I'm normally a very good driver, but sometimes when there are a lot of cars on the road and I'm in a hurry I get nervous. I've had a couple of near misses, like once I tried to change lanes without checking my blind spot and nearly hit someone. Does anyone have tips on how I can not get so nervous?Driving Tips? Try driving in the right lane for a while until you feel more confident. Leave a few minutes earlier if you need to get to class, so that way you are not always in a rush. Make sure you check both your rearview and sideview mirrors before changing lanes. Drive slower than normal (but not too slow where you're a safety hazard) so you can check your mirrors properly without feeling crazed. Take a deep breath and relax. Always allow yourself extra time if weather is bad. You're still young and it's normal to have some ';near misses';. The trick is to learn to slow down a little so you can avoid an actual accident.Driving Tips? How do I keep from getting nervous?
Slow down and pay attention. Do not put your self in a RUSH situation
go out and drive at night when there are less driver on the road. and remeber don'tgive it gas all the time it's not a race
Driving takes a lot of practice! Try utilizing the mall parking lot on Sundays before it opens, and then while it is open. There are usually cars on the road around the mall so you can get used to driving with cars on the road. Always check your blind spot, and take your time, you are in no hurry to change lanes, just do it safely. Also, try driving in the cemetary for more practice and no matter what, try to stay on the right side of the road until you are comfortable driving with other cars. Good luck!
IMO,your not ready to be driving alone. IF your nervous while driving you shouldn't be. You said YOUR in a hurry, leave the house earlier next time. Or try to take another way, take care of your business before or after rush hours.

Check all your mirrors every few seconds.Know what is around you at all times. This WILL save you from close calls.Stay out of the hammer lane (fast lane) move out of peoples way if you need to. 1. Take your time, and refuse to be rushed. Better to be late than not get there. (Try leaving earlier to allow extra time.)

2. Experience.

3. Try to AVOID the 'rush hour'. (I used to park and wait when in congested areas during rush hour, and for about 1 hour before until 2 hours after bars closed on weekends!)

4. If you get TOO shook up by some nutcase driving wild, find a safe place and stop until you get calmed down, THEN continue.
