Improper lane change in California?

So, I'm doing an internship in California (so I'm out of my home state), and while driving my lane very suddenly turned into right lane only, so I put on my signal, checked the mirrors, and started to change lanes before my friend stopped me because a cop on a motorcycle was in my blind spot and another second or two and I would've run him over. I pulled out of the lane, got pulled over, and got a ticket for improper lane change. It doesn't say how much it's for on the ticket. So, how can I get the fine as low as possible (I'm not going to say I didn't do it because I did), and are there any ways to keep my insurance from finding out since I'm out of state? Are there any other repercussions? This is my first ticket ever after 4 years of driving.Improper lane change in California?
The statewide schedule calls for a fine of $201. (That is actually a fine of $35, all the rest is assessments on the fine.) Your fine should be close to that. Traffic school will cost up to $50 more, but it results in dismissal of the charge, so your home state should not be notified nor your insurance affected.
