Why do driving examiners do this?

i recently failed my driving test.

when the examine explained why i failed, 2 serious faults, 1st bay park and not looking out rear window, the 2nd was not using mirrors to change lane on a 2 lane right turn.



both of these faults occured very early in he test.

so why did the examiner just let me carry on as normal, taking you through difficult roads and situations. there's no point i had already failed, just makes u feel stupid

do they get some sort of sadistic pleasure from this.

btw both of these faults were not in themselves serious, unless i was be in danger of running over a squirrel, on the bay park and the right turn i had done with my instructor and had no problems.

i even overtook another learner taking there test on the duel carriageway, without a problem.surely how can he say i can't drive.



omg, it's true, driving instructors have have an agenda.Why do driving examiners do this?
Some of these people are just ';little people'; who take pleasure in showing their ****POWER**** This jerk should have stopped the driving exam when you made these errors, Or made it clear you had failed the test.Why do driving examiners do this?
Don't eat the rest of your meal - the first thing you ate was wrong.



At least this examiner prevented another crap newbie driver from killing someone!

I have always wondered this as well. Perhaps its just protocol or they have extra time until the next driving test appointment.
i think alot of them are on a power trip and most of the time as children they were the dorks lol
Once you begin the test the driving examiner has to take you through the entire test. In this way he can bring to your attention all your faults. The fact you had only two shows you did everything else right. Congratulations and better luck next time.
they put you through the entire test to see all your mistakes so they can tell you all the faults. if your faults were at the start then you must have been ok on all the rest of it.
Sorry about that , However he just wonted to know if you knew the rest of the course, Now you know you need to use the mirror out there if not they would not be on there I love my mirrors When I drive I see all around me , Now next time you go to take the test look in the mirrors They will help you I promise, Hope this helps. They will not stop your test unless you do something dangerous or life threatening
He let you continue so he could evaluate your performance completely. That way you're aware of everything that needs to be addressed.



If he failed you after the first mistake and stopped the driving test, it would take forever to pass.



You said you made two mistakes. If he followed your recommendation, you might have to do the test several times to get it right. Because as soon as a mistake happens, the test stops.

Do it his way and you find out all your faults in one test. This way you may need to only take the test one more time.
You paid for a test you got a test end of.
I think they let you carry on to make sure it was not just nerves that let you down at the start of the test. Smiler happened on my HGV test, on second test I carried out the reverse test, asked the examiner ';was that a pass'; ';NO'; so I stopped the test, when I told the instructor, he said I should have carried on I might have passed, but hay-ho, I passed next time
with driving instructers it all comes down to statistics
The test has to be conducted in a uniform manner meeting a number of legal requirements. One of these is that the car has to be on the road for a minimum of 30 minutes.



The examiner does not have the discretion to shorten the test unless the driving is dangerous at which point they can terminate the test. You as the test candidate can terminate the test at any point if you wish to do so.



Lets say for example that you commit a serious fault in the car park at the start of the test %26amp; the examiner ends the test, do you feel that a 2 minute test would be good value for money? Would you have learnt anything from the experience?



You say that the two serious faults you commited were not serious? What qualifies you to make this statement as a learner? The examiner is a highly experienced driver who has been specially trained to drive at a standard far higher than that required of normal drivers %26amp; assess the driving of others uniformly %26amp; fairly. Examiners have to pass many tests %26amp; complete a very tough training course %26amp; are regularly supervised to make sure they are doing the job correctly.



It sounds to me like the faults were correctly assessed. If you don't look out of the rear window whilst reversing how do you know what is behind you? Whilst there may not have been anything there on this occasion you need to demonstrate an understanding of the correct TECHNIQUE.



Not using mirrors when changing lane? Oh well thats fine isn't it? Get real. Your driving didn't meet the required standard, thats your fault not the examiners. You also need to sort out your attitude %26amp; stop believing that you know it all. You still have a great deal to learn about driving.
next time u take the test exagerate everything u do.....ie take a bit longer when checking your mirrors

How can it be safe to bay park without looking out of the back window? Can you drive forwards without looking where you are going?



Sour grapes - you are not safe enough to hold a license. Drive properly on your next test and you will pass. Untill then, keep death off the roads!
They're examiners, not instructors!
OK, So you failed your test.



Why was that I wonder? could it possibly be that you wern't up to the required standard?



Your previous question and this one both show that you are not mature enough or mentally prepared to be allowed to drive without supervision.



The reason you continue through a test is to ascertain ALL of your capabilities, not just up to the point that you fail.



You must realise that the driving test is not just to see how far you can complete the test, but to be examined on ALL of the requirements of driving and then to inform you of your improvement needs.



As for your comments about instructors / examiners driving like everybody else after their tests - at least they have passed, unlike you.



I suggest you grow up a bit and concentrate on your errors before condemning everybody else as being bad drivers.
1. yes they are sadist jobsworths.

2.they have to take you out for the 30 minutes to justify the obscene amount of money they charge.
