Fail to yield row; changing lanes?

I took a left turn at a four-way intersection. The only car I saw was the cargo truck next to me, and after a while I saw the truck in my rearview mirror so I decided to change lanes. Then what luck. Apparently there was a sheriff right behind me when I took the left turn, then he passed the truck and changed lanes to the right and got in my blind spot. I almost hit the sheriff's car while changing lanes. He pulled me over and gave me a ticket. The title is exactly what my violation is, but it is not listed on the violations sheet that the sheriff gave me. I'm not denying my fault here because I know I did the wrong thing. I just want to know how much this ticket will cost me.

One more thing: I took a defensive driving course last year for ignoring (I really didn't) a stop sign. I got the ticket today, which is within a year of the time I took DD. The sheriff told me that I might be able to take it again depending on some ';things.'; What might these things be?

Class up sheriff's office or county court/office listed on your ticket. They will be able to tell you how much is your ticket.

You might have actually caused an accident, so they ask you appear in traffic court.
