How come motorcycles can go inbetween cars while driving?

I don't know how many times I have went to change lanes and there is a ';motorcycle'; in between the two lanes right in the blind spot. Are they suicidal? If I was to hit one of them would it be MY fault seeings how they are NOT in a LANE? Oh sure you can look first to see if all is clear but they seem to come out of no where.!How come motorcycles can go inbetween cars while driving?
If someone on a bike is stupid enough to ride between cars, then they are taking there life into there own hands. I do not think it is

fair to a motorist that the law would punish them for a stupid act of another person. I ride, and ride safely, away from others and out of blind spots as much as possible. It's those who chose to be dangerous that make the rest of us look bad. Please don't pass judgment to all of us riders because of the ones that are choosing to be dangerous. How come motorcycles can go inbetween cars while driving?
They can because they are small. It is also stupid. If you hit one I wouldn't say it was your fault, and I ride a motorcycle.
They should not do this unsafe activity. Some of the riders are idiots are Darwinism will get them eventually. Just keep yours eyes open and look for them every where.
i think cali its legal mosts states its agianst th law to split lanes
Lane splitters are asking for trouble. But now that you know they do this...please look twice. Some bikers do it in heavy traffic if they have air cooled bikes and on a hot day, they could overheat.
Lane splitting, or riding between rows of cars in heavy or stalled traffic, is only legal in California, and unsafe in all states, but as you say, they seem to come out of nowhere, and disappear just as quickly, so there must be some advantage to it.

It scares the **** out of me when I see someone doing it, and I've been riding motorcycles since I was 12 years old!
They are not supposed to weave in and out. If you hit one of them I'm not sure if you would be partially at fault or not. You are supposed to look before you change lanes you know. But you are correct some of them drive as though they don't know what in the heck they are doing. Considering that people in cars have a hard time seeing motorcycle riders anyway it's too bad that the motorcycle rider can't be even more cautious. After all they are the ones that are seriously injured or worse.
I m a rider and would not do this kind of thing. I have seen it the most in California on the freeways with the police doing it too (without being in a chase) suggestion just look hard before switching lanes near LA!
Lane splitting is not only legal but a necessary survival trait in some European countries. But only at stop lights and the like. It's really dangerous when a cage drive with ';the rage'; gets pissed and opens a door.
always switch your turning sign before changing lanes.

you're right about most bikers are suicidal, but they also have avoiding skills as well. They'll avoid your car rather than you avoid them.....
Try living in Taiwan or another Asian country where scooters are everywhere and the concept of ';defensive driving'; does not exist. I've lost count of hit-and-runs on pedestrians by motorcycle and scooter drivers where the riders ran through red lights and through crosswalk signals.

And people wonder why I carry an umbrella even on dry days. I have over a dozen bent umbrellas and over a dozen idiot riders crashed to my credit by putting the umbrella tip to their face or throat. If I'm obeying the law at crosswalks and someone endangers my life by speeding through, their life and safety are forfeited.
