How do you change lanes...scared to?

Im having trouble changing lanes.

What is the right way to changes lanes safely and correctly.

How long should it take to look back for cars because I have a hard time turning my head and It always get stuck there for like 5sec. and I end up swerving a little to the the right side. How do you change lanes...scared to?
Check rearview and relevant wing/door mirrors to check for cars abouts to over take you etc.

Check relevant wing/door mirror and blindspot to check whether there is a vehicle there already.

If all is clear, indicate the direction in which you want to change lanes.

Check again (just in case, and people sometimes don't notice the indicator lights immediately).

Move accross and cancel the indicator. How do you change lanes...scared to?
You should adjust your mirrors to a comfortable position. Enough so that you can have a nice view of the lane/s besides you. Also, turn your turn signal on 5-10 seconds prior to changing lanes. This way, other drivers know that you are going to want to change lanes soon and they will give you room to move.
when your driving, put your blinker on, look in the mirror(s) for a vehicle, then actually check you blind spot by turning your head for about 2 seconds(look right if your goin right, left if your turning left), then make your decisions to gradually turn into the other lane, good luck
